Advanced Life-form Development?
I am a newbie. I just colonized a planet with "advanced life-form development". That's nice, but what does it mean, practically speaking? So far it appears that Advanced Life-forms and $1.50 get me on the subway. (As we NYer's say)

Unfortunately, nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
It's just one of those eye-candy descriptions.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think that the "this planet contains tech stuff" means something. Anything else, or is the rest of it (as you put it so well) "eye-candy"?

Re: Advanced Life-form Development?
Yep, the tech ones mean something interesting. However, there might be a few generic descriptions that LOOK like the ruins ones but aren't - a few I can think of is "This planet is the final resting place of two ancient cultures" and "This planet contains the ruins of an ancient civilization". You can tell the real ruins planets because they have a separate description for the ruins attribute below the normal description, in a larger font with a bullet point next to it.

Re: Advanced Life-form Development?
Try "This planet is known for its great ice skating!" Or maybe, "Planet devoid of any natural life forms" on a planet with 147% organics rating. I've seen worse.

Re: Advanced Life-form Development?
The only descriptors of a planet that have any in-game effects are those in the bullet list in the black box below the planet. All text right below the picture is merely eyecandy. The same goes for other objects too, such as Stars, Components, Facilities, etc.

Re: Advanced Life-form Development?
I remember how in my very first game I was extremely nervous because the description for my home systems star said that it was unstable and might go nova at any time...

Re: Advanced Life-form Development?
My two home systems in a current game have that ability. Good thing it's set to 0% chance in standard. I know some mods have changed that--has it ever been proven one or another if it works?
