Doom Horror bug?
I wished for a doom horror and his commander died and the doom horror kept fighting even though there was no magic leadership and my army was routed. My doom horror still lives after the battle even though there is no commander for him. Bug?

Re: Doom Horror bug?
As long as you have a commander, leadership types do not matter in battle.

Re: Doom Horror bug?
I thought magic units dissolved after a battle when left with no magical leadership.

Re: Doom Horror bug?
AFAIR, magic units dissolve *during* the battle if not enough magic leadership left. However, they don't dissolve with probability 1, but rather have a chance to be dissolved in every combat round, when the magic leadership is insufficient.

In my particular game, not only did the doom horror not dissolve, but it remained alive throughout the game (and was constantly attacked) with no leader whatsoever. Is that normal?

Have you ever seen an Illithid or an Angel (both magic units) dissolve? I guess no, because magic units don't, period. Mindless units do.

I have seen a variety of magic units to dissolve: iron dragons, some seasonal spirits, claymen etc, so being magic being doesn't prevent dissolvment. However, closer examination shows that all these magic beings are mindless as well, so you must be right that mindlessness is the only cause of dissolvment and being magic is irrelevant.

Any mindless being will dissolve if there are none of the appropriate leaders around.

That's correct. The only thing that a magical unit needs is magical leadership to move it around.

That may be the key point. Do you mean that if there're regular leaders, but there's no magic leader, mindless magic being will dissolve, but mindless regular troops will not?
If that's right, it would explain what happened in some battle I had which puzzles me:
I had couple of mages, bunch of Iron Dragons, vine ogres, plus some regular troops and regular commanders. Some pesky enemy killed my mages with a distant attack and attacked with his force on the same turn. Iron Dragons were quickly dying, even though there was enough regular leadership. It was quite a while ago and I might have missed something, but Iron Dragons don't tend to die that easily without any visible cause (and enemy had only brought some very basic force there).

Exactly.
Iron Dragons (mindless + magic being) will dissolve when left without magic leadership.
Longdead (mindless + undead) will dissolve when left without undead leadership.
Vine Men (mindless) will dissolve when left without regular leadership.
