A Borg Collective style completed
I expanded the Borg set Warp-Nine made for the demo into a full-blown style for the final game. It ain't the prettiest thing ever but it does get the job done, it gets the Borg into your game.
http://www.geocities.com/jonas8472/
Probably the best features is a complete Borg_AI_Speech.txt that anyone else can feel free to use and modify for any robot/AI type race. The other text files are Warp-Nine's works in progress.
If anyone else is working on Star Trek stuff or even the Borg, please let me know! I don't want to be duplicating efforts here!

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Super, I have d/l'd your Brog and some of the SW ones from a link you had (only one I found to work for kuat shipyards).
one minor error: you left out the personality setting in Borg_AI_settings.txt. I added the line on my Version, set it to 1. Let me know and I'll re-set to what you prefer.
Looks good so far. I plan to have a Borg, UFP, Klingon game tonight. I'll let ya know here how it went.

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Excellent work jonas. I like this race. Just one small error I got in the Borg AI Anger file:
These lines were missing and I got an error message:
Per No Treaty Ship := 1
Per Ally Ship := 0
Per Enemy Ship := 1
Minimum Anger := 20
After I just copied the lines from another race it worked fine, but may be you would like other values.
Thank you very much for your work.

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Thanks for the great feedback guys, I fixed the text files as you suggested.
Quick question for Pathfinder, you mentioned a Klingon race, I haven't seen anything like that? Where can I get a copy?
Thanks!

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Some more feedback after a game with your Borg race. I played with the AI fully on and watched the progress of the game. They really are aggressive and colonize very fast every planet and one turn after their first contact with another race they demanded their surrender. Excellent!
There seems to be a little problem however with the unit design: The minister created ship designs but no unit designs. Do you have any idea what might be the reason? I played with high tech for new players, so all the technology is available. And the colony ships are equipped with neutron bombs. What is the purpose of this weapon on a colony ship??
I like your ship graphics very much and the portrait of the Borg Queen is just superb.

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Much as I'd like to take credit for the AI files, the only one I did was the Speech one. The others were done by Warp-Nine, as I mentioned in the read me. I'll definitely pass on your feedback to him though, or you contact him directly through his website, http://warp_nine.tripod.com/
Unfortunately he doesn't have the full Version of the game yet, at least the Last time I heard from him, so he's making these files based off the demo! That may be part of what's going on.
I haven't really dug into the AI text files yet myself.
(Okay, I just looked at my zip file again and realized I'm an idiot and didn't credit him. That's been fixed, I've also added a new, darker Borg Queen portrait Warp sent me -- that's his too, BTW, from the original demo set -- AND I fixed the two bugs in the AI text files you guys mentioned earlier. So the new download has all that fixed.
Geez, I better not be in charge of a full-blown mod file, no doubt I will completely mess it up.)

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
jonas, Atrocities has the Klingon set at the following website:
http://www.angelfire.com/zine/cnchome/Shipsets.html[/url]
He is the webmaster there
BTW I started a game with the Klingons, Borg and Atrocities UFP set...the Borg were merciless, and that speech file...PERFECT!
the txt file errors are minor compared to the overall quality, IMHO.
Just let me (and the others know what values you put in and I at least will put them in as you would have them).
I have haven't run into the Klingons, yet. hehe, I hope I survive the Borg long enough to do just that!

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Thanks pathfinder, I downloaded his Klingons and will try them out tonight. I also found some incomplete Romulans and Cardassians in the mod forum and will see what I can do about finishing them off.
Earlier today I fixed about six or seven of the lines in the Borg file that were wrong, so it's even better now. I'm also working on one for the Federation, which will have a whole different sound -- lots of bureaucratese and so on.
For the Klingons, I'd suggest using the Xenophobe_AI_Speech file, at least until someone makes one that uses some actual Klingon wording.
Oh, and as for what missing values to put in, I really don't know. I just put in what you guys said as default.

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Wow, my races are actually being used! I wish my full Version would get here so I could play too!
-Borg unit designs: There were entries missing in the design file. The fixes are on my site.
-Neutron bombs on a colonist: I can't imagine what a Borg colonist would look like since they take everything from other races. I was hoping they'd use them in the event of coming to a planet that's already been colonized. Any other ideas? I'm still trying to get more boarding ships and troops used in combat. So far the Vulcans have assimilated more ships with allegiance converters (which I took away from them) than the Borg have.
-AI_anger file/personality settings: Those entries I haven't even seen in the Demo files. If someone would send me a set of full Version default ai files, I could get them tuned up for all 8 races. I figured some entries were missing since I tried setting all anger values to zero once and the Borg got murderous and declared war within one turn of first contact for no apparent reason.
-Klingon race: DONT cross these guys! massive, massive fleets with VERY heavy firepower! I haven't witnessed them confront the Borg yet, but I expect some heavy casualties for both sides. There are a handful of Klingon sayings in their speech file. Let's ask nice and see what Jonas can do with it! ;D
Thanks for the feedback and please send some more.

Re: A Borg Collective style completed
Great news. I can't wait to get sometime to check the BORG out. Thanks W9 and Jonas.
