Claiming system

What's the point of claiming system? I mean option 'claim any system colonized'. What this mean really. Seems to me that claiming or no claiming makes really no difference.

It affects your relationship with other Empires. If you and an AI claim the same system, you're far more likely to have them declare war on you...

If i claim system and AI does, is see diplomacy effect. But if i colonize without claiming? What then.

Unless you change it, the default option is to claim a system when you colonize it...
