A question on the tactical grids
Hello readers!
I was setting up some troop formations and got to wondering:
How does the battle resolution grid relate to the positional grid in the transfer units screen?
I count 18x18 squares in the army screen, and 28x29 in the battle. I would have expected a more direct relationship between the two. Please enlighten me!
cheers

Re: A question on the tactical grids
The battle grid scales, depending on the size of the armies fighting the battle.

Ah ok, now it makes sense - thanks. I didn't notice the scaling battle grid.

Re: A question on the tactical grids
Up to infinity? Can you have a 20,000 unit army?

Computers can't handle integers beyond a certain limit, so no, not to infinity. 65,535 (2^16-1) is a common upper bound.
[Edit]A quick search turns up this from the Dom3 FAQ:
Quote:
Q: How high is the unit limit?
Unknown. The size has been increased several times with patches and the current known lower limit (i.e. at least this number of units can be in the game without encountering the problem) is 137k.

Re: A question on the tactical grids
Well, you must have one of those new-fangled contraptions. My 4-bit computer only counts to 15, but if I short out the carry bit with my tongue I can get it to go all the way up to 31.
