Default New PBW : Menzoberrazan - Menace of the drow elfs

Ralf will be running the following game !

Mortaran Rift in the Magellanic Cloud some 185.000 lightyears from terra:


When on stardate 2125.8 an Earth Alliance explorer vessel arrived at this strange phenomenom in space, no one would believe, the events that lead to the creation of one of the worst menaces in the known galaxies. The EAS Farsearch, a deep space exploration vessel were sent to the magellanic cloud to investigate means of colonization, when it discovered a region of space, described as a “rift” in the fabric of time and space. Sensor readings of this phenomenom gave only very limited informations about the nature of this rift and so the EAS Farsearch entered it. Communications with the vessel via its relais buoys it left on its was to the LMC was lost and could established again after nearly 6 years, on stardate 2131,6. The story the crew told was a very fascinating one: Upon entering the rift, nicknamed “mortaran rift” after junior sensor officer Phyllis Mortaran who first detected it, the vessel found itself in something best described as a pocket of space some 10.000 lightyears in diameter, where all known concepts of science are irrelevant. The Farsearch detected an abnormal high level of tachyon radiation everywhere, so that hyperlight travel could be done without any jumpgate, when it entered the rift sensors were able to pick up some faint indicators for planets in this place and the Farsearch set sail for those omnious readings. What they found was a whole set of systems and planets. They executed a 4 years mission to cartograph this “rift” and its interieurs. They supplied themselves from the various uninhabited planets the found and were on their way home, when the sensors detected a planet with intelligent lifesigns on it. After a brief period of orbital examination, the captain of the Farsearch decided to establish first contact. What they found, they could not believe at first. A medieval society with many kingdoms and city states, mystical creatures like dwarfs, elfs and dragons and Last but not least magic, which was quite normal on this world. The head of the city state of waterdeep, where they came to took them for avatars sent by their gods to help them. Unable to overcome these ideas, the first contact team let the citizens of waterdeep take this for sure and studied them for more than a year. Learning about such an archaic society the Farsearch crew was sure they were more than decorated on their return. But there was one community on this planets they didn´t account for. Beneath the surface of the Forgotten Realms, as the surface dwellers called their world existed a society of vile and evil creatures, long Banned from the light of the sun and feared by nearly all folk above the earth, the drows. The Farsearch crew herad stories of them but took them as legends and myths not for true, a great and disastrous mistake. The leading community of drow society was the great underdark city of Menzoberranzan lead like all other communities by a matriachy these strong believers in an evil deity called loth, spiderqueen, when they learned about those strange and powerfull avatars which came to waterdeep their goddess gave them insight of the true origin of those newcomers. The drow did not hesitate and set a plan in motion to cature the first contact team and leanr about their intends. Soon after the “avatars” vanished from waterdeep and the Farsearch could not detect any sign of them…. After 3 months the team was found. slain to the Last crewmen and seemingly tortured slowly to their deaths. With no one found guilty, the Farsearch prepared to part, when suddenly alarms all over the ship rang. Intruders invaded the ship. The drow learned from their captives all about the ship in orbit and understood the origins of those “aliens” from outer space, they also saw the chance to ultimately take control of their worlds, from above out of the dark and deadly realm of space. Their magicians teleported a raiding force onto the Farsearch and they managed to take control of the vessel. Unfortunately for those drow elfs, the captain of the Farsearch was able to start emergency protocols and activated the autopilot. When the drows “convinced” the captain to cancel his commands, the Farsearch had left the mortaran rift and was on her way home to earth. With their home planet gone and plans evolving to something their high priestresses did never wanted it to, the drows accepted the situation and searched for alternatives. Soon they found an interesting sytem and decided to take it for their new home and establish ,after learning from their new slaves they ways of technology, a kingdom of darkness and evil……………


This will be a “roleplaying” setting, there are no victory conditions although I think if the drow are able to conquer all systems or extinguish all species, that would be some sort of decisive victory. What I would like is a very detailed description of your races and a fitting “roleplay” of them in game. The drows will be the most dangerous threat in this sector, what you do with this information rests in your hands, weather you like to ally with them fight them openly or anything else well, lets see. It will be the only non-player race controlled and roleplayed by me. I will implement 3 AI-races with medium boni to make playing interesting and I will give every player race a “gimmick” system designed for them, to search for. We will start with 5 planets and I will monitor the AI´s closely, as for what they research and what they construct on plantes. All other decisions will be made by AI.
