Laser Rangefinders
One thing I find a bit strange regarding laser RF ratings among MBTs : let me explain. "Once upon a time", all MBTs equipped with a laser RF had a rating of 14. One day, the good wizard Mobhackus said something like " We tweaked the code and now, we can adjust RF values and are not anymore compelled to top the value at a flat 14. "
So far so good.
Now all laser equipped tanks from the late 70's to 2020 have a RF rating of 22.
I have the strange feeling that we exchanged a top value for another one, but did not use this (probably) hard earned bit of freedom to the full extent.
Could not this be used to simulate not only the evolution in raw range finding but also the evolution of on-board ballistics computers and software packages and starting again with 14 in the 70s or 80s ( M1, Leo 2, T-80,...) and going up to 22 for the latest MBT models fielded ( Merkava 4, M1A2SEP, ... )
Just my 2 cts.
Cheers.
