Killing named horrors?
If you manage to kill or at least defeat a named horror, is that unit out of the game, or can it return later?
I actually managed to put the kibosh on Hruvur, the Abomination of Desolation, a great fish-skull looking thing, thanks to a Ring of Warning and 10 exceptional bodyguards (8 of whom were killed before Hruvur packed it in), and I'd rather not have to see him again (yeah, someone has put up Astral Corruption).
Is he permanently gone, or can he come back?
And just how many of these uber-horrors are there (on the off chance that once they're gone, they're gone)? I almost managed to beat something called Agon, Eater of Dreams, before he managed to panic my commander (with his Fear 15!).
I'd like to think that if I managed to somehow to actually defeat all of the really nasty ones, Astral Corruption wouldn't be such a hassle. Seems unlikely though...
Anyhow, this is my first run-in with A.C., so any ideas on what to expect (I got kinda lured into a false sense of security, after I only saw one lesser horror the first two turns of the global), and how to deal with it, would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Killing named horrors?
If you have astral mages, you can script them to cast "returning". Make sure to give them astral gems.

Re: Killing named horrors?
Not really on option for my most important mages. It's either run the risk of slugging it out with a horror, or watch my gems seriously depreciate in value

Re: Killing named horrors?
I don't know how many there are of them, at least 3 or 4, they come back after defeat and "Returning" is the best way to deal with them. "Charm" worked sometimes too but I wouldn't relay on that.

Re: Killing named horrors?
I'm not sure about killing them, but I do know that you can send them to hell via one of the level 9 blood spells and they will not come back until/unless they can find their way back.

Re: Killing named horrors?
They really ought to add a new Doom Horror into the game, the Hunter of Bugs...

Re: Killing named horrors?
Speaking of bugs: Maker of Ruins is, essentially, a giant bug. And we all know how big bugs tend to ruin games...

Re: Killing named horrors?
I killed a Doom Horror unscripted with a lucky Disintegrate. I think it was the big bug, it definitely wasn't one of the multi-form horrors. I'm pretty sure they do not suffer perma-death.
If you can't cast Returning or Infernal Prison, then lots of penetration plus Charm or Disintegrate could work.

Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever.

Re: Killing named horrors?
They act just like Bogus. There can only be one of each around at any given time, but if and when they are killed, they will sooner or later reappear. They should retain all afflictions, though.
