Forum Bug?
Since yesterday or the day before, the Shrapnel site seems to be showing "new Posts" for threads despite the Posts already having been read.
IE : The thread displays as having "52(2)" Replies, where the 2 in parenthesises is supposed to indicate 2 Posts made since the Last time you viewed the thread. Instead, it's continuining to show "52(2)" or whatnot, even though I've (you've) read the newest Posts 3 times in the past 2 days.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Re: Forum Bug?
I, kinda. Or, the forum's somehow Cached, hitting 'refresh' makes it all right again.
What annoys me is that seems new Posts indicator is somehow reseted at times, meaning Posts are marked as read if they were unread on Last visit and I didn't read them then but looked at other threads and went away.

Re: Forum Bug?
Caine, I'm almost certain it's a local problem. Make sure your browser's caching is set to always refresh from the network each time a page is viewed.

I don't do that, because I want the Cache for other sites. However, whenever I come back to the forums, the first thing I do is a manual refresh, thus updating the Cache and display.
For instance - I just went back and did another manual refresh, and it's still showing 3 new Posts in the "Atlantis Replacement Needed" thread. And having just read the Cho-Ku-No mod thread, I again refresh and ... It still says there are 3 new unread articles there.
Up until a couple days ago, this wasn't the case - I'd open a few threads, read them in their windows, close them, go back to the main page and update to see what else was unread (or if something new had been posted while I read the threads).
Edit: This seems to confirm my hypothethis that it's something in the forum software. After posting this, I do a refresh. It definately refreshes - the thread is now shown as having (4) unread/new Posts where before it was 3 (but should now be 0), and it correctly shows me as the most recent poster. It isn't a Cache issue.

May I ask what browser you're using? I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.0PR and the forum continues to function correctly (for me).

Re: Forum Bug?
It wasn't working with Opera 7.51, despite the Cache being cleared several times on exit. (7.51 is what I had been using quite successfully before 2 days ago.)
Logged in with Firefox, and all of a sudden it seems to be working again in Opera. Possibly an issue with corrupt cookies or some such.

I'm using IE 6, and I definitely had an issue like you are describing. I cleared all my cookies, and the problem went away (along with all my saved settings for just about every web site I use regularly ).

You should do three things:
1. Never clear ALL your cookies, only those pertaining to a site you're having trouble with.
2. Always keep a backup copy of your cookies, bookmarks, etc. in a separate directory.
3. Use a browser other than IE. (Especially if you value security.)
