Renaming commanders & other question
Here's my question - I turn on renaming in SP games to make it easier to identify my mages (ex. 1W 3D 2N). If I rename commanders in an MP game like this, wouldn't it make it easier for my opponents to know what my commanders are just by reading the name, giving them a slight advantage? Just wondering if people do it or not in MP games, but only on mages they know will never go into battle, or if they just like using their own names.

Re: Renaming commanders in SP vs MP
And another question, I see references to Zen's Cradle Map, but I don't see one labeled that on any of the maps at Illwinter's site. I see a Cradle of Dominions Map by Jason Lutes, a fixed version that corrected some neighbors or something, and a PhilD version of the map. Is that what people are referring to as zencradle.map?

Re: Renaming commanders in SP vs MP
Very few of your mages will yell their names to the enemy. More specifically, the enemy will only see the names of lonely mages, of heroes and of prophets. The average mage (when not alone) will not appear in their scout reports, and the only way they will have to figure out her name will be to attack it; by then, they can see all the paths of the mage just fine.
I have *a* Zen Cradle map on my computer (the one we used for Yarnspinners), but I am not sure if it is the most recent one. You should only need it if you plan on creating a game with this .map file though. I have attached it to this post; make sure you copy your cradle.tga file and rename the copy to cradlez14.tga.

Re: Renaming commanders in SP vs MP
I always name all my mages with some kind of note as to what thier random magic path is. Its worth more to me in organizational value than it ever will be to the enemy in intel. From what I have seen a lot of players do the same.
Just don't make quantum's mistake and write strategic notes on your "protected" commanders like: "no pd prov 35" hahahahah.

I don't like renaming commanders just cause it is not thematic, but I do it cause it is a necesity.
