Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
This puzzled the heck out of me when I saw this but I eventually figured out that this must be the result of a level 9 death blessing.
Only now he's "never heals". Any way to fix that?Any way to fix that? Oh well, at least I can keep him in my capital to cast some rituals I'm otherwise missing.
I wish I'd gotten Lu Tung-Pin as well but I guess a non-sacred unit must have killed him.

Heh, that happened to my prophet once. I ended up with a 1-hp, neverhealing, lifeless soulless of Caelum.
Just ascertaining, Li T'ieh-Kuai IS immortal, right? That's awfully harsh, that is.

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
I don't think this is related to a death blessing, for two reasons:
- The death blessing isn't based on whether sacred units killed something, but on whether the -dead- unit was blessed. IOW, it affects your sacred units and not those your sacred units kill.
- It turns commanders into Soulless, and not Ermorian undead, IIRC.
I suspect that instead, you've been the beneficiary of a fairly long-standing, rare and presumably rather obscure (code-wise) bug in which sometimes a dead commander gets partly reincarnated as a commander belonging to somebody else -- keeping his name and magic, but not his body type.

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
This is a known bug in which immortals from Tien Chi that died on the turn previous will sometimes be reincarnated as a random unit that is GoR'd and given their paths. I've actually had this happen to a devil while playing abysia before. I think its a fun little glitch that adds character myself, if you do a search for 'reincarnation glitch' you might be able to find some more information on it.

This bug is not limited to Ti'en Ch'i heroes. I've seen it happen, or heard reports of it happening, with Orokestes, Zaelynis, Bartholomeus (or was it Carmont?), maybe a few others. All reincarnated as auto-summoned units (dominion-summoned undead units for Ermor or Carrion Woods, Devils from Soul Contracts, Vinemen from Enchanted Forest).

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
Thanks for clearing that up. And yes, I was playing Ermor and fighting against Tien-Chi. I didn't know how that Death 9 blessing worked, and I had a whole lot of those sacred undead knight in that battle that killed him.
Hmm, couldn't find any references to "reincarnation glitch" using the search function.

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
In case anyone is interested in the specific circumstances (for bug-fixing or to reproduce this effect):
I was holding the Tien-Chi capitol fort. Li T'ieh Kuai led a bunch of troops to take the province. I ordered my troops to break siege and he died in that battle. The next turn, he was reincarnated in my capital.

The first one would be far more interesting! Especially if it there was a possibility of getting special undead units of that nation, longdead Giants, Lizards and Caelumians fighting in the ranks of Ermor when he comes to you would certainly be somewhat scary...
This might cause even more problems than the present "giants to longdead humans" bug/glitch... Kill Vaetti to get longdead Giant, or slave lizard to get undead c'tissian...

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
The fact that you were holding Tien Chi's capital, where Li T'ieh-Kuai normally would have respawned, could be significant. Or it could be a coincidence.

Re: Li T\'ieh-Kuai the Longdead Legionnaire
The glitch can only affect immortals that don't get resurrected through normal immortality, so holding the tien chi capital could very well have been significant, unless the battle also occurred outside of tien chi dominion.
