Wave Breaker question

The description of the Wave Breaker starts out saying "The wielder of this trident will be able to command the currents of the sea to help him and his friends." I've got one, but don't see a spell or effect listed beyond the weapon ability and water-breathing. Does it help poor amphibians reduce their penalties within some radius or... should I just go use it and find out?

Or download the MIQR. It gives you a Friendly Current free at the beginning of combat much like Storm with the Staff of Storms.
