OT-This music video is seriously messed up.

So, today while driving home after work they played " Total eclipse of the heart" on the radio. Nice song I thought. As I am want to do I find it on Youtube and listen to it again....ahh youtube, my very own personal cd collection of basically any song I can think of.

I have occasionally seen part of it on those ads where they play parts of videos while trying to convince you to buy their greatest hits collection, so I gathered she was standing on a balcony crying in angst. Well watch this video to se why they don't show any other part of it.

I like watching music videos on youtube... then ripping them to my hard drive using CinemaForgeLite (freeware, or at least functional crippleware) and storing them away in anticipation of the day the MAFIAA shuts down youtube altogether...=-)

EDIT: If you want to see the most messest-up music video ever, that will give you nightmares for weeks, search you tube for Aphex Twin's "come to Daddy". Do NOT show this video to your grandmother. Watch it all the way through, then curl up into a ball behind the sofa and whimper. The only known cure for this condition is to then watch Aphex Twin's 'Windowlicker' video.

I remember when that song came out and I remember she was a drugged up freak at the time. I was not surprised at all when I first saw this video.

Ok! So now I have seen "Come to Daddy" and it really wasn't all that. It was rich in symbolism; however, they were all repeated symbols. Meaning they are not combined into new effects, messages, and/or meanings. They are taken from different elements and spliced together here creating a rather nauseating patch work effect. Sort of like someone flipping the channels every few seconds. In fact I am not even sure what all Frameworks were used to construct this.

Now if you really want disturbing... In one Senior class about rituals and symbolism we spent two weeks discussing human cannibalisms. We watched an excerpt from a film (maybe taped in the 60's or 70's) in which an African tribe was eating the remains of a Shaman. We didn't see the preparation of the *ahem* meal, just the platters. Some parts such as the brain are not cooked; which it turns out, was dependent on the customs of the tribe. Watching the joy and obvious pleasure as they consumed the meat and organs of another human is a memory only rivaled by those I took from Iraq.

Yup, we all live in a brave new world, where our freedoms are now litigated in courts, and we are afraid to do anything for fear that it will end up on the 11 o'clock news in the pervert or redneck of the day segment.

If you want to watch something disturbing go to the PETA site and watch their state of the Undresss. Some semi hot chick strips nude while preaching about why we shouldn't eat KFC or something. Then they play a very sad video about animals being killed. It too was posted on youtube but removed. It might still be on their web site buy you might need to debug your PC after going there. The site likes to upload bad mojo onto your system.

I was going to say that random weirdness in music videos of the sort showcased in "Turn around..." died out in the 1980's. Thanks so much for the Aphex Twin suggestion -- it is in fact comforting to see strangeness alive and well.

Seriously, that was freekyer than the arthouse film showcased in The Ring. I expect in seven days a European techno-freak will climb out of my computer monitor and kill me.
