Another 1st turn mystery

I started two PBEM games both as Allies. One began by showing the attack on Pearl to me before the file was sent to my opponent and then showing it to me again on the return file from my opponent. In the second the game acted as I think it should and did not show any attack on Pearl before the return turn. Bruce
