Could someone please recommend a good bandwidth testing site? Thanks.

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
Just did the speed test at dslreports (choosing the closest Canadian connection) and I got these results..
5179 kbps Download and 610 kbps Upload speed
Which in simple terms means.. 38.8 meg/min Download and 4.56 meg/min upload. Not bad, not bad at all.
So what are your numbers people?
Cheers!

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
9110 down / 9148 up. Or a bit over a megabyte per second
Too bad I only get two 10mbps lines in my room, instead of 100mbps lines (or gigabit lines!)

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
Using the Speakeasy server - 2103 kbps down and 341 kbps up.
Using the Megapath server - 647 kbps down and 348 kbps up.
Just goes to show that results may vary!

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
Ok, in an efort to have us all use the same test to compare results,.. go to this site..
Toast.net Speed Test
Select each test one by one and use the first Web Host in the list ( TOAST.net I ) For the upload test, view and 'save as' the 1mb pic file then browse to it's location and send it back.
My results are as follows..
Text = 4860 kbps
Shuttle = 4595 kbps
Shuttle & Text = 5587 kbps
Mars Rover = 4645 kbps
F-16 Jets = 4830 kbps
Upload = 652 kbps
Note: You can only perform this test once, the second time, you will be loading your Cache and get speeds like.. 16175 kbps
Ok, with this guideline Let's all post our results. This should be fun.
Cheers!

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
Hmm, it looks like I have a very volatile connection:
Text=283 kps
Shuttle=384 kps
Shuttle+Text=470 kps
Rover=402k
Jets=434k
Upload= Timed out

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
Here's mine, again.
Text =:2644 kbps
Shuttle =:2004 kbps
Shuttle + Text =:3744 kbps
Rover =:2377 kbps
Jets =:2507 kbps
Upload =:377
You can never get a truly accurate reading from these kind of tests, but if you always use the same testing server(s) you can spot problems with your connection. This one looks pretty close for me (except for the shuttle + text, fluke I guess) as far as downstream goes but the upstream seems a little high (not that I'm complaining! )

Re: OT: Good Bandwidth testing sites?
The accuracy of these tests can be misleading sometimes. Some ISP's use caching servers also which will skew results. I'm on a full T-1 and got these results:
Text: 1144 Kb
Shuttle: 902Kb
Shuttle & Text: 1107 Kb
Mars Rover: 1042 Kb
Jets: 1110 Kb
Upload: 431 Kb
