Default Phased Weapons vs Phased Shields???

How can a Phased Polaron Beam penetrate a Phased Shield based off of these definitions:

Phased - Shield Generator: Generator which creates an energy field that cannot be penetrated by phased weapons.

Phased - Polaron Beam III :Multi-Phasic energy beam which can penetrate normal shields.

Is this an error in interpretation or a bug?

A Phased Shield is not a normal shield. Therefore a Phased-Polaron beam does not ignore a Phased shield. The Phased Shield is the defensive answer to the Phased Polaron beam.

I have read that phased shields and armor are still not working correctly.

I have also read that "leaky armor" takes advantage of this and and is highly sought after in mods. Adamant, Star Trek, PON, and even TDM however I am not positive.

Ok. Based off of the two replies, this is a current bug that others have fixed with a leaky armor mod.

I am just trying to answer an issue in our current pbw game since a fleet using nothing more than Phased weapons tore through my Phased shields.

A reply in our forum was: "you are wrong.
Against phased shields, Phased beams work the normal way. Which means they have to deplete the shield's points to start dishing dommage. It is against non phased shields that phased beams are awfully strong as they skip them completely."

This is the answer I feel is true and is a bug in the game:

"A Phased Shield is not a normal shield. Therefore a Phased-Polaron beam does not ignore a Phased shield. The Phased Shield is the defensive answer to the Phased Polaron beam."

Phased shields work perfectly fine. If they didn't the people 'round here would go nuts.

However, if you have ANY normal shield generators aboard your ship, they will disrupt the phased effect.

As soon as that normal shield generator is destroyed in combat, leaving only Phased generators, the shields will start blocking PPBs.

I am confused. AFAIK, there is no bug and phased shields work just fine. PPB does not skip phased shield Last time I checked

Based off of my Last Combat. My fleet was decimated by only PPB's against my ships having only Phased Shields. Could they have any special modifiers that cause hits despite this?

Anyway for me to send a combat reply to verify Im not going nutz?

Armor and shielding work just fine. TDM does not make any tech/component modifications, only modifications to Formations.txt and the AI files.

Phased shields do not make you invincible to PPBs. What they do is get hit by the PPBs and take damage. PPBs skip normal (non-phased) shields and do damage to the ship directly. They do normal damage against ships with phased shields (hits shields first). Also, PPBs are very powerful weapons anyways, so if you are using weak weaponry and phased shields, you can still lose against them.

Yes, Fyron has identified the misunderstanding here.

When phased weapons' and shields' descriptions are concerned, the "ability" discussed is the ability to ignore the shield points of an unphased shield. Phased weapons can still deplete their way through a phased shield - they just can't ignore them the way they ignore unphased shields. The description may mislead some readers, but this is the way it has worked since SE3 (and maybe even before SE3).
