Fear
I asked this question a while back, but didn't get a definitive answer: does Cause Fear (+10) incur a harder morale check on the opponent than Cause Fear (+5)? IOW, is the parenthetical number just for AoE, or does it also affect the check? And if it does affect the check, how so?
TIA.

Re: Fear
quote from a dev
Yes, and every full five makes the morale roll 1 more difficult. Fear 0 is area 5 no morale mod. so a critter with fear 15 has area 20 -3 fear mod. A death mage with 1 death, area 1 morale mod -1. The fear roll works like morale in battles, which means I am not entirely clear about the details, but squad size average morale etc will factor in if squad flees or not.

Re: Fear
Sadly you can't put duplicate items on a commander to get twice the effect. Put a black steel helmet on the other head instead. Buys you a a little more time to be scary.

Normally yes. I specifically asked Zen about this a couple of weeks ago and he said that Horror Helms are cumulative. I'll have to test it myself, whenever I can get a second helm in the same province as my wyrm and do some swapping.

Re: Fear
Statistical modifiers stack. It's only special affects like path combination and other effects that don't stack.

Re: Fear
I had an Ulm game where I started with a PoD with death-9. That and a Horror helmet and the corpse-candle shield.
Fear+29 or something like that. He didnt kill so many but boy did they flee from him.

Re: Fear
I find that, in practice, it is really just the miscellaneous items that don't stack for duplicate items. Two weapon combos work fine in terms of higher bonuses (as far as I've ever noticed, that is) and I've double-helmed many a Wyrm.
