User Preferences
I'm sure this has been asked before, but what user preferences do you normally use for your game?
Mine:
- Proportions Mod
- Sequential Play vs the AI
- Large Galaxy
- 2000 or 3000 Racial points
- Max number of AI and Neutral races
- Low start resources, Good planet, but only 1
- High tech cost, low start tech.
Things I don't do:
- Multiplayer (I like to take my time!)
- Simultaneous play (I like to have control over the battles)
How about others?
Steve.

Re: User Preferences
I rarely start two consecutive games with the exact same settings. The only consistent ones are Events at Low frequency and Catastrophic severity, 1 planet start, and for solo games Show all scores and Surrender allowed. I tend to prefer Large quadrants, Low starting tech and Low research cost, no restrictions on tech or trades, High AI difficulty with no bonus. I've never played No warpoints, All systems seen, Omnipresent view, or Can start in same system, and dislike Finite Resources enough to only have played it once. I think I've only played Colonize only own planet type once, and haven't tried Colonize only own atmosphere.

Re: User Preferences
It varies, but my current vsAI prefernces are:
-Proportions
-wp anywhere in system (easier for AI)
-all wp not connected (delay 1st contact even longer, so AIs will be more developped)
-players can start in same system (It happened to me and it's been a great game.)
-homeworlds not necessarily same size
-high events / high severity
-Max AI + max neutral. (neutrals are cool in proportions - they defend their homeworlds much more closely than regular AIs)
-Simultaneous (it's too easy when you have tactical combat)

Re: User Preferences
My prefs:
- P&N 3.0 (man, I gotta try proportions though, everyone else seems to be playing it! )
- Modded settings.txt (SJ's mod, adding proportions-esque pop modifiers)
- More modding of settings.txt (SJ's bug fix for above settings.txt, found here. (link) )
- Small, or medium quadrant.
- Not all WP connected.
- WP anywhere in system.
- MAX event probability and severity (eyecandy events.txt).
- High tech cost.
- Low tech start.
- Max # AI, no neutrals.
- Max AI Difficulty, bonus.
- 5000 Racial points (of which, I limit myself to 4000).
- One homeworld=medium starting resources. Otherwise, low starting resources.
- max ships and units
- patched TDM races
