LA Atlantis Underwater
In the last patch, Illwinter added some nice incentives for LA Atlantis to reclaim the water. You open up a whole new tier of recruitment, like a subset of MA Atlantis. The new recruits aren't game-breaking, but they can be handy.
Here's the underwater castle recruitment screen:
(Ignore the Tritons; they're standard province recruitables.)

Re: LA Atlantis Underwater
Meet the Forgiving Father, a nifty mage who adds limited Astral diversity and (through a random pick) can even break into Fire magic for you:
The random pick is a 100% chance of FEWS....

Re: LA Atlantis Underwater
Most of the troops are standard Atlantian spearmen, with varying levels of coral armor & equipment. The Unsleeping are the heaviest troops of the lot:
They look a lot like non-Sacred Coral Guards to me.

Re: LA Atlantis Underwater
The nice thing about all of them is the high MR and insanity resistance.
They lack the cold resistance most of the other troops have, so you'll have to be careful with some of the magic.

Re: LA Atlantis Underwater
So neat! Makes me want to play LA Atlantis.
(I have an ongoing friendly rivalry with a fellow gamer. He tends to play R'lyeh, and I challenge him by playing Atlantis which he doesn't respect at all.

Re: LA Atlantis Underwater
actually you don't really need to be careful with magic, as a majority of cold spells (ice bolt for instance) can't be used underwater, it may also be good to note that a forgiving father and an angakok leading a communion can has the posibility of being able to cast any major battlefield buff in the game, this includes will of the fates, fog warriors, flamming arrorws, army of lead and the all important antimagic.
this means in the late game you can turn those hordes of easily massed seal hunters into a great force to be reckoned with and your mages have high enough hp to resist a rain of stones counter.
On the flip side your research is mediocre at best and your angakoks are capital only and over priced, coupled with resource intensive units who melt in the sun your progress, especially into enemy dominions, should mostly be quite slow.
i'n currently doing a MP as atlantis so i'll soon see how well they handle.
