No, they both have a seperate build queue and cannot work together on 1 item.

How do ships earn experience? I have a fleet of 5 ships that has killed at least 15 ships total and their exp is still 0. Is this normal?
By shooting other ships but it's a rather slow process. If you really want experienced ships, you should build a Ship Training Facility and/or Fleet Training Facility. These facilities will train your ships and fleets respectively.

Multi-queueing is adding the same item(s) to multiple queues at once. It is done in the Construction Queues window. Shift-click to select multiple queues, and then hit "Multi-Add". You can then add ships or units to all selected queues. They still work individually, but this saves a lot of time when adding a BB to 50 different SYs.

Missile ships do not get experience for destroying ships with missiles.
When a ship destroys another ship, it gains 1 experience point. A ship destroyed by a missile is not actually destroyed by the ship that fired the missile, but the missile itself. This is why that ship gets no experience. Fleet experience is added based on some arcane formula that not many (if any) of us know.
