Computer Problems
Man I tell you there isn't any more sickening than to come home from a day at the beach to find your computer has frizzed out. I have just spent the last two hours trying to get my PC working again.
It crashed on start up giving me a bunch of funny screens. I had to do a manual shut down. From their Safe mode crashed. Finally I was able to get her up. Ran a restore to the last date I had a good point for, and restarted. Then no connection activity at all. Finally I just gave up. Went and ate dinner. Came back and she was connected.
WTH??

Re: Computer Problems
Having dinner fixes a lot of computer problems. After I updated my BIOS, my computer wouldn't boot anymore. I went and had dinner, came back and it booted fine, and has done so ever since.

Re: Computer Problems
Trying to show somebody the problem often fixes it, too. The weird thing it was doing magically stops happening about 50% of the time if you just get a computer expert to come over and look at it, and so you can't show him the problem. Unfortunately, after the expert leaves, the problem sometimes comes back.

Re: Computer Problems
Never try anything like this with an Xbox 360 however, when mine crapped out with a ring of red death last week, not even barry white could save it.
And when the best buy dork looked at it, it got worse! The moment he plugged it in blue smoke poured out. my understanding is that the blue smoke is its soul escaping.

Re: Computer Problems
Found out what the problem was. Windows turns the power off or something to the modem and when the PC crashed it got all confused and wouldn't turn the power back on. When windows tried to update it "discovered" the problem and corrected it so that it could update itself.
Wonderful. Just wonderful. The system tells me the the modem is ok, but it really wasn't. Gotta love Windows. And no, I am not going to move to Linux or whatever. I'll stick with windows.

Re: Computer Problems
Yes, linux is bad. The true OS is MacOSX (or any of the *BSD flavor)
