Teleporting Stealthy Commanders
If you take a stealthy commander with either 2 air, 3 astral, or 4? death, and have them cast aerial trapeze, teleport or stygian paths, will they cause a battle if they land in an enemy province?

My guess is yes, as I'm pretty sure that the "sneak" functionality is hard-coded to be tied to "hide" and any movement by other than sneaking is treated as normal movement with the unit ending in "defend" mode rather than the desired "hide" mode. But I've guessed wrong before ...

5 death IIRC.....
yes.
they landed and turn themself to "defend"--not "hide", it's cause a battle.
(Stealthy hunters blood hunt in enemy province---by the bug---bring the same result too.)

Well, there go my plans to teleport members of the second tier around and have them cast returning if discovered.

Well, there go my plans to teleport members of the second tier around and have them cast returning if discovered. Yeah it's a shame. I found out the hard way. Forged me the Gate Stone and made a really nice assassin with him -- but didnt work quite as planned. Discovered as soon as he teleported (no you fool! dont attack the entire province!!) and then my enemy got all his amazing über-gear too...)
Love stealth, but the game mechanics don't love it as much as I do.
