From time to time I do get "burned out" on playing SEIV, and move onto other games. But ulitmately I always seem to come back to SEIV. I don't know what it is about this game, but I know one thing, we should turn Aaron into the Attorney General for making an addictive life sucking product.
How would have guessed that nearly four years ago I would still be playing a game made basically by one man in his home and sold exclusively on line. (I still think the shipping charges were to excess guys.)
I know that this forum is a big part of the lure, and more than likely why many of us still play, if we play.
PBW is a great tool for playing SEIV, albeit the turns are really slow sometimes.
Turn Fests / Gamathons are a lot of fun, but after six hours of playing one is just completely pooped.
Modding the game has to be its own reward just like making ship sets. Most mods go unplayed, and most ship sets go unused.
A sad but true fact of SEIV life.
I think what keeps me coming back to this game to play it is the combination of creativity, game play, people, and challenge that SEIV has to offer.
I don't know about you guys, but it amazes me that one man, working in his spare time in his apartment could produce a game so highly addictive that it beats time and again hard core time tested titles such as Moo2 and BOTF. How this man has produced a game that is better than all other 4x games to come along since, and better than most that came before it.
This should be a world record. Lets face it, SEIV is just a solid product with exceptional game play and cult like fan following. All hale the mighty Game gods from Malfador. (J/K, but thanks for making such a great game.)
