Re: Argatha Bug?
Are they blessed with normal Blessing? It might be just another version of undead "unholy" units requireing a slightly different blessing spell.

From the test battles even the normal blessing spells are not blessing these units even when they are the only sacred units on the battlefield. I see the units do have the sacred status yet a normal priest or normal prophet isn't able to use the blessing or divine blessing spell for them.
I wonder if other undead sacred units also experience this issue.

Re: Argatha Bug?
29th october
* Version 3.01
* New map by Jason Lutes.
* Blessing can affect sacred undead.
Normal blessing should work, and if it doesn't work either, something has gone awry.

I'm running the most recent patch, but maybe it only works for new games and doesn't fix the old games.
Has anyone been able to test the blessing effect on sacred undead such as the Umbrals from Argatha?
(devs can answer if they wish too)

Re: Argatha Bug?
I tried it with an Ancestor to no avail, using a normal, level one Bless spell. He cast it, he just refused to target the Ancestor with it.

Thanks for the test!
I'll report the sacred undead bug.

Re: Argatha Bug?
Looks to me like the old Unholy / Holy difference is still there as far as blessings go.
ex - Ermor
Summon / Freespawn priests - can bless undead. If living (non Ermor) units are present too, the blessing will affect only the undead sacreds. The living, non-Ermor sacreds won't be affected.
Independent priest - won't cast blessing if there are only undead sacreds around. Casting divine bless with sacreds from another nation / independents will bless the indeps, but not the Ermor units.
I'm a patch behind at the moment.

Re: Argatha Bug?
Last time I checked, Ermor still uses Unholy blessing to bless their sacred undead, whilst normal blessing works for their non-undead sacreds.
The obvious solution is to reinstate unholy as a fully separate magic path. Dunno why Illwinter got rid of it in the first place.

The obvious solution is to make blessing affect everything as intended, actually. This has been done at least once already, as I noted earlier.

Initially we didn't intend for good and evil, holy and unholy to be in the game. Evil is in the eye of the beholder.
Unholy was added as an ad hoc solution to the fact that holy priests were more or less useless to undead priests of Ermor (dom1). At that time bless effects etc was handled a bit differently and most of ermors troops didn't have morale. Preaching was also something we imagined the undead didn't do. Therefore unholy priests were added.
Currently you can consider unholy those priestly powers that are influenced by the underworld and the unliving. Unholy has always felt a bit ad hoc. Especially when broken empire Ermor got unholy priests. They were made to be able to preach and reanimate.
Unholy is getting a rework in DOM3. Undead priests have 'unholy' powers of reanimation, but the unholy tag is removed. All priests are priests.

I'm not sure whether that was written by Kristoffer or one of the Johans. It would be easy enough to check, though, because the post number let me make a link.
EDIT: It's Kristoffer O.
