Re: Intel was bad!
I just checked the link... it seemed to work just fine for me.
Quote:
Intel has been sued in Federal Court. Allegations in the class action complaint include:
(1) Forcing major customers to accept exclusive deals, (2) withholding rebates and marketing subsidies as a means of punishing customers who buy more than prescribed quantities of processors from business rivals, (3) threatening retaliation against customers doing business with a business rival, (4) establishing quotas keeping retailers from selling the computers they want, and (5) forcing PC makers to boycott rival product launches.

Re: Intel was bad!
Eh, a useless lawsuit to be sure,.. all major manufacturers use those 'techniques' to help 'encourage' the purchase of their product over the competitors. Any 'business' or 'persons' that are affected by the conditions listed in the lawsuit have most likely signed an agreement with intell for special benefits like volume discounts, exclusive deals etc. Sounds to me like one or a handfull of mercahnts are now unhappy with that agreement and have decided to file a class action.
Let me guess, this is an american class action suit? heck don't get me wrong but you americans like to sue for just about anything. What this does is make it harder for people with legitimate claims to get their just due. People that sue for less than bonified reasons should be fined heavily. I get the impression 'courts' in the U.S. are viewed as 'playgrounds' for every Tom Dick and Harry that is a 'wannabe' lawyer.
Anyway, I'm not impressed by this class action.
Nuf said, Cheers!

Re: Intel was bad!
The site belongs to some trial lawyer firm. It is filled with these kind of BS lawsuites. The one thing that I was interested in, the Zyprexia information. The damage it causes fits what happend to me to a "T", and I did take it in 1999 and 2000.

Re: Intel was bad!
Well Intel did offer big carrots to sell processors, Pentium onwards as I remember. It also carried a big stick if you stocked any of that 'AMD rubbish'. So for many years there were many Intel only OEMs, now only Dell remain (although hidden deep in the depths of their website, behind even their Linux machines you will find AMD processors. Not whole machines of course, that would be silly!)
So they did limit competition with AMD and were anti-competitive. It limited consumer choice certainly, if it raised prices is a different question. Given Intel always were (and still are) more pricey than AMD it will be tricky. You go into a shop were there's only Intel machines, if there was an AMD machine it would be cheaper so you buy a cheaper machine. So you could say its increased prices. However is the Intel machine more expensive just because there's no competition? That's the question.

Re: Intel was bad!
Is this related to the law suit driven by AMD? If so, it is going on already. If not, then this is some new case. Anyway, I have been wondering many years why Intel can compete with AMD with its overpriced processors. Obviously these anticompetitive actions have been taken care of it. Hail to lawyers (for once)!
ps. Only Intel processor I have purchased is on my laptop.
