I highly doubt the T-72s in South Sudan are the T-72MP version, since they don't look anything like them from the screencap/video shown at port. They are probably more closely resemble the T-72UA1...

Don't know exactly when the received the Type 96A (Al-Bashier) but there were photos shown as early as 2009.

Sudan purchased 200 Chinese Type 96A MBT from China, these were essentially the same as the chinese Type 96G with thermal sights, but without the spaced armour for turret and ERA for the hull.

Here's a pic of a T-72BM having been hit by HEAT.

As you can see it stripped the ERA block right off the turret, now that area is no longer...

What I am trying to say is the Soviet/Russian tanks could be more accurately represented in game then they are right now. Here's another...

The reality is those nice russian tank aren't actually all that nice in reality. As their armour stats in SPMBT is gravely inflated, their actual armour values is below what they are represented.

I've tried it again, and yes, I did manage to get a 11 Pen once, in like 40+ hits, which is amazingly low odds.

For about 40 hits I think the break up was:

Non-Pen = 17 times
0 Pen = 9 times...

It's been documented in WW2 that Soviet assault guns like the SU-152 and ISU-152 were sometimes used as heavy TDs. It's been reported that 152mm HE rounds were capable of defeating German heavy tanks...

But wouldnt that make Flame weapons much more effective against armoured vehicles then say weapons that use HEAT in the game?

What you could do is even out the points. Players playing the "Bad" side would have 50% more points then the "Good" guys.

Infantry with Light AT/Heavy ATGMs should be able to "kill" most post-cold...

I wouldn't say so, the Russian recently developed the RPG-28, which has a 125mm caliber warhead compared against the older RPG-27/29. Which improves it's penetration to over 900mm of RHAe compared...
