Re: Request for assistance

Yeah, Graeme understood me properly.

I know Auspex, also Augury, you have to have a land lab to cast from. And Voice of Tiamat, you have to have a water one. But I was thinking I'd heard that...

Re: Request for assistance

I used to use akashic record a lot myself. I discovered Auspex/Haruspex/Dark Knowledge etc. through posts here and have been using them. It does cut some gem costs down, but on the other hand it...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

I've got the game saved, I imagine I'll come back to it eventually, dispell Ermors enchantments, and track population growth for a few turns. I'm just a bit busy exploring the wonderful new world of...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

I guess the reason this surprises me is that I remember reading the general strategy was to use powerful summoned troops instead of nationals as much as possible. You don't need gold for them, right?

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Yes, that's one thing I've learned. I was seriously underestimating the effect of Ermors globals. I still don't know if the gift spells would offset the death scale or not, and I'm not sure I'll even...

Re: Request for assistance

I've had some moderate success with cavalry. I like to keep a good strike force of all cavalry available, set them as far forward on the field as possible and attack immediately, they can move...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Yes, Ermor has Burden of Time and Foul Air up.

I have Gift of Health and Gift of Natures Bounty. Obviously my initial assumption that these would allow me to weather the effect of Ermors globals...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Thanks for the explanation. Trying to make sure I understand this correctly. Turmoil 2 causes income to drop 14% *every turn*? Not to a stable state 14% below what it would be otherwise? Is that what...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Would it be correct to extrapolate that means about 240 turns to take income to absolute zero? If that's more or less correct it means that in a large map game where that many turns are to be...

Re: Request for assistance

Oh, the other nice thing about summon earth power is it gives a little antifatigue too. And the other nice thing about boosting your battle-smiths up higher than just enough to cast the spell - blade...

I know how you feel, sounds like most of my experiences with large-map games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

I know the turmoil lowers income, but it should lower it to a point then stabilise. Since I had good dominion spread at the beginning, most of my provinces were already showing turmoil from it before...

Re: Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Well, for the record, GoNB is NOT enough to overcome Death 1. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I should have paid closer attention before I cast it for comparison, but...

Death scales/Gift of Natures Bounty

Does anyone know, offhand, how the combination of death 1 and gift of natures bounty will go? Death 2? Death 3?

Am getting close to testing it with Death 1, but I bet someone here has already done...

Re: Artificial stupidity

Obviously it has limitations, and obviously all game engines have limitations. But, sorry, your second clause is exactly reversed. The perception of stupidity here is a result of learning about those...

Re: Artificial stupidity

Testing reveals that switching the final order from 'stay behind troops' to 'cast spells' or, for that matter, to null, does not alter the behaviour. I still get mages running across the battlefield...

Re: Artificial stupidity

Exactly. Except for their tendency to senselessly cast BoW and then kill each other with it, this is a very handy tactical tool.

Also it seems that when you put them on 'stay behind troops' they...

Re: Pure Dominion victory

I'm attempting it now. Kind of by accident. Jotunheim in the little 'Brittain' map, with Caelum, Abyssia, and Mictlan as opponents. Started on Ireland, so I ran for Connor I think it is, the northern...

Re: Artificial stupidity

Started a new game with Jotunheim. At least breath of winter doesn't cause friendly-fire deaths with the giants. Still just hilariously stupid though.

Niefel giant prophet. Scripted:

Divine...

Artificial stupidity

The worst thing about this game for me is the so-called AI. I'm really steamed right now. Scripted an atlantian king to cast a handful of spells then attack. He has the champions trident, but also a...

Re: Tips for A newbie Playing as R\'lyeh

Hmm rough guess, I've seen maybe 60 starspawns. So that would be some incredible un-luck.

Another possibility would be that I didn't know enough to be paying attention and hoping for that until...

Re: Tips for A newbie Playing as R\'lyeh

The biggest problem I keep running into playing R'lyeh is that they suck supplies like nothing else. My armies always seem to start starving as soon as they go two provinces from a castle. With other...
