Re: Mage Bane questions

That unresistable +100 fatigue per hit (unless it's been changed? Haven't used Magebane for a while) should also be converted to hit point damage after fatigue hits 200.

Re: better retreat controls

I'd be nice if Vortex of Returning didn't break up squads, too.

Re: How many Niefel Jarls is too many...

Upper limit? Heh, as long as you can afford 'em... you're not playing Hinnom, after all.

Jump somebody who'd really, really want to have more time for research and site-finding, like TC.

Re: SP Home Rules

Never being the first to break the peace with an AI.

Benevolence guidelines (ruling as if to rule, not to conquer a ruined world) --
Never using Death scales unless playing the Ashen Empire....

Re: Bug Thread: Discussion

That would be the case.

He'll be back as a mummy. Have you ever heard of a mummy going on strike, demanding more compensation? They're beyond such mere concerns as coin. :p

Re: Epaminondas' Miscellaneous Questions

The labs would only take care of HP damage, not afflictions. And immortals will indeed heal their afflictions, although I couldn't tell you how it stacks up against recuperation (#N).

Re: LA Ermor vs. mass priests

Etimmu can summon ghosts, if memory serves, which should be decently resistant to banishment. It's only one a turn IIRC. If you do send him into melee, the fear-causing helmet would be a nice...

Re: Improve assassins

Right now, their utter randomness in picking targets and the fact that a province has to choose between hiring an assassin (whose odds of accomplishing anything are fairly low -- even independent...

Re: Dominions patch 3.21 released

Ooh. More national summons for tasty theme. Spiffy.

Wonder how the changes will play out for LA R'lyeh's economy. Suppose they'd be more dependent on the summons, being able to afford even...

Re: Linux: Installation on 64-bit system

Re: Best ways to poach mages...

The Tupilak never impressed me. It might be cheap, but the att/def stats give it very low odds against anybody who isn't pretty feeble.

Didn't see any mention of the Strands of Arcane Power or...

Re: More things to forge

A fan (hand slot) that caused knockback (use the trampling-scatter code) and provided a good air shield would probably be thematic for Air. Possibly appropriate for a TC role-player.

An...

Re: is the AI cheating

Agreed. One should also eyeball the independent types. Feudal provinces (heavy infantry, knights and archers) are pretty nasty if you lack shields or lance-absorbers (e.g. Dispossessed Spirits). ...

Re: is the AI cheating

EA tends to feature stronger national mages and also defaults to a somewhat higher magical site frequency (and thus, higher gem income).

Re: is the AI cheating

The AI is quite willing to let its hordes starve. *shrug* Depending on what you're playing, it's likely that you shouldn't be very often.

In my experience, they're also often quite willing to...

Re: Trample balance discussion

I would suggest that it depends heavily on the morale and numbers of the pikemen. Starving conscripts are likely to break and run from a trampler, instead of holding; and an isolated square of three...

Re: Unlikely tactics, niche tactics, and specialized tactics.

The Spirit Helm is an autocaster, so it's not affected. Quickness is very nice with the the wand and staff-like items (or a Flambeau, say) -- a heroically fast commander with a Phoenix Rod is...

Re: MoV usage

If they're fleeing on the first serious wound, perhaps one could 'prime' the assassin with a disease-causing item (and that item can go back in the lab the turn after application), so the first wound...
