Re: Quickness and Rate of Fire

True, they don't fire two volleys, but their quickened fire shoots arrows in pairs. It took me a while to figure this out; I had to zoom in on them just after the arrow animations appeared to see it.

Re: Flame Weapons

I happened to be playing with F9 blessed units w/ lots of attacks, so I ran a battle w/ logging -ddd. Here's the part of the log for a single attack in that battle. The attacking unit is a Prince...

Re: Starting Province Names

Map makers can also specify "#nohomelandnames" which prevents starting provinces from being named by nation.

Re: Command line?

Those are the only ones: the binary has a different name, it's in a different place, and it's got a bug that makes it path-dependent. It's otherwise identical, and so almost all advice about Dom3...

Re: Command line?

Well, there are some differences between the MacOS and Linux versions. So, first, to find your copy of Dominions, start the Terminal (as previously described). At the prompt, type:

find . -name...

Re: Community challenge: Automated PBEM e-mailing

Mac OS X is BSDish, so anything written in Perl will run just fine, and stand-alone Linux programs will either build as is, or just need a few changes for OS dependencies.

Re: One map move, and what it it means

They keep getting distracted by the pretty trees and flowers they like so much. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I agree that how map move is determined is pretty strange....

Berserkers/Touch of Madness fix mod

Here's a short mod that turns Berserkers and Touch of Madness off completely. It just sets both spells so they'll never be researched.

Re: Summons: Your thoughts.....

On a related topic: other than skelly spamming, I almost never deliberately cast battlefield summoning spells. Do other people? What do you summon?

Re: My Wraith Lord just wiped out 39 commanders. M

Yup, we've been trying to get the Devs to add a checklist feature for battle spells since Dom2. This may be a good time to try again, as it's hard to say that what happened to Professor_Chaos is...

Re: Dom3 Database - v3.10

Edi:

In the magic site list, there's a column labelled "adventure" after "scry". What does it mean? It's not in the glossary.

Re: Polls

Democracy is on-topic. EA Arco is Classical Greece, which had democracy, and EA Ermor is the Roman Republic. Maybe those nations should get special "politics" events....

Re: Setting up an Ettin?

Sort of OT, but I did once outfit a Machaka Bane Spider w/ two Lantern Shields and a Skullface. He was a very effective assassin. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: POLL: Scales, Magic Paths, and Dominion

How much dominion your pretender needs depends on how much everybody else has. I usually choose 6 because I like bless tactics, and 6 is an OK tradeoff between number of sacred units/province and...

Re: Oohh My! I\'ve Created a Monster!!!

It depends on the situation, the thread is misspelled, worded wrong and biased, and I must disagree with Hadrian II and Sensori. I like Oreiads w/o equipment, because they can seduce nearly all of...

Re: AI Questions

Other than making better pretenders for the AI, there isn't much players can do for it. The AI doesn't understand how to build an SC or play a coherent strategy. We would need for the Devs to make...

Re: Buffing holy power

The one time I wanted to do that w/ LA C'tis, I empowered my Lizard Kings with whatever path I had the most spare gems in at the time. After that, the mage-only path boosters work fine. This isn't...
