Re: Gandalf\'s Crazy Solo Games

I tried a game vs 20 or so Impossible AIs, as MA Man, and had the good surprise of getting a free Horror... Now, 10 turns into the game, it's been solo conquering a province per turn, and largely...

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)

Welcome aboard Cafard!

If you want some good-natured Dominions discussion in french, you can come and see us on the Cyberstratege board (www.cyberstratege.com), that's the most active section of...

Re: Need for Password Changing

Obviously wrong; the devs are more interested in MP than SP, but most importantly, they're not interested in doing UI improvements. As the lacking functionality doesn't make the game unplayable (it's...

Re: A simple improvement

Hey Loops - are you the same guy who has 32 victories and no defeats on Land of Legends? Have to say, I hate you man - there's no way I can ever get a better rating than that (even not taking into...

Re: Summon stats

The very first roguelike game I played (that was moria, and it was, '90 or '91) didn't let you do a simple copy of your savefile - the savefile included some inode/date info, or something. But...

Re: Very small UI improvement

I have to admit I kinda like the long line of soldiers to get a feeling of how many there are, but it would still be nice if they could appear in a sorted order.

Re: A simple improvement

No way. If the game programming is done half correctly, this would take no more time than processing an equal number of orders - exactly as much as it would take if each nation's player had issued...

Re: Dominions 3 Plus v0.1

I'll second that 200%. First, this is a multi-OS game; I do all my current Dom3 playing under Linux. Second, when the game is patched, these changes just go away.

Bad, bad, bad.

Re: Problems in demo exist in regular game?

Short answer is, the full game is the same as the demo, except you get to play more: more nations, more eras, more research. Features, though, are the same, and the patches don't change gameplay...

Re: Will Vanheim Ever Become Spayed?

Actually, the mathematical status of series, and infinites, and limits, was a problem until surprisingly recently. One version of the story was from Jean de La Fontaine, a 17th century French...

Re: Buying the Game - What\'s the difference in the

I guess the difference is in the speed. Cheaper is supposed to be slower.

As for customs - I'm not in the UK, but I'm in the EU (France), and didn't have any trouble with customs.

Re: Will Vanheim Ever Become Spayed?

I'm really interested in knowing what series is "convergent to 1/0" in the Zeno's paradox story. The way I see it, the time series is simply convergent to a finite, non-zero value, which is exactly...

Re: Scenario: 300 Van versus 1 Million C\'Tisians

If you reread Evil Dave's post, he didn't attack all science older than 70 years, only "archeology and speculation". I don't know about archeology (my guess is that there was some serious archeology...

Re: Bug thread

Dawn map: in underground provinces ("West Dripping Cavern"), the battlefield seems to have a hole in it. Sometimes units seem to get caught in it, and then the battle will last for a very long time -...

Re: Forum and manual interaction

Well, some time ago there was a thread about "live" testing to actually determine what the real mechanisms of dominion spread were. My suggestion was that, while it was very clear that "normal...

Re: Building temples (noob question)

Also, it appears that the mechanics of dominion spread as described in the manual are wrong - there was some rather intensive testing done some weeks ago, and reported here.

While the manual says...

Re: How to use Pangea songs?

The problem is, apparently nobody (maybe not even the devs) knows exactly how the affected squares are chosen - I don't think it's "the 15 closest to the caster, breaking ties randomly in a uniform...

Re: The possibility of partnership.

I don't think Shrapnel want to divulge that kind of information - they sold more of Dom3 than they sell of most of their games, but they don't typically say how many that is.

Re: Bug thread

Playing as a Land nation (EA Ermor), patroling an underwater province (with Shamblers) doesn't seem to result in any unrest reduction, and doesn't get me a message about it.

Re: The new map Dawn

Am I the only one who systematically turns on the "Show neighbours" option? There are so many maps with non-obvious connections (or non-obvious non-connections) that I find it necessary most of the...

Re: You\'ve killed our god! No, it was suicide!

I'm pretty sure I've seen the AI adapt its armies (and what the mages cast) to what I'd been scripting, so it looks like the AI does remember something of what happened in previous battles.

Re: Niefelheim disasters--bug?

Yeah, but flipping heads 100 times in a row are this to the 10th power - roughly, 1/10^30. This is really astronomically low. If every human being in existence (roughly 6.10^9 of us) tried this every...

Re: ANGRY!!! Squish!

Hey, I don't think emacs has real shell functions, right? Just a front-end mode for external shell programs.

But then, I almost agree with this: emacs is most of the interface you need. The only...
