Re: Obat 002 Poland

Checked some more, and it could be a typo for weapon #157 "RPG-7TB 103mm" (FAE RPG-7), which isn't used by any para unit yet.

Obat 002 Poland

Just a small mistake I spotted while modding this one:

Unit 260 "Para squad" has weapon 167 in slot 4.
Weapon 167 is "9M120M Ataka", parametered as such (class 21, range 120, HEAT 80). While I...

Re: Some more \"Never Beens\" for the USA

T-54E1, is it? (I cheated, looked up the file name, I'm no good at 50s US projects http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )
Some AMX-13 technology in that, plain copycatting or just...

Re: Adding completely new units

First thing you need to get a unit in the game is the entry in the OOB file. That's what MOBhack is for.

Second thing you need is an icon. That's the visual used on the game screen for the unit....

Re: Adding completely new units

I don't think there's a through-and-through tutorial on creating units from scratch, since it isn't something you're supposed to do on a regular basis.

First thing to do is browse the MOBhack help...

Re: SEAD vs SPAA

Wait a tick, guys: 1) it happens that anti-radar missiles knock out the AA unit's radar or force it to shut down. In this case, I wouldn't say the AA unit is useless, but its ability to pick out air...

Re: Some more \"Never Beens\" for the USA

What I gathered from available sources is that the F-16-based radar was just behaving too dumb for AAD missions, e.g. not being able to pick out aircrafts and helos against ground clutter, mistaking...

Re: Some more \"Never Beens\" for the USA

These are some kind of Patton chassis, right?
Don't tell me all of the DIVAD contenders used the old M-48 drivetrain that far in time? How on earth were they supposed to keep pace with the...

Re: TOTAL WAR 1985

Great, Hackett scenarios! Testing right away!

What do you have on the French sector forces at that point? I once tried a full-scale Berlin battle based on the existing Berlin map, and I ran out of...

Re: ATGM vs Helo

Suhiir is right, ATGMs are a serious threat to helos only if said helo has already spent some time hovering in one place (practically, more than one turn in the same hex). In that time frame,...

Re: New SHPs?

AFAIK planes and SPGs and the like work the same. 6976 icons should be able to fire all round without pivoting, as opposed to the -1 variety.
I've already read that other ways to fix non-turreted...

Re: USMC Self Propelled Artillery

Thanks for clarifying this, Andy. Personally, I had forgotten that the 2S7 is X3 in the original OOB. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

So basically, the difference between...

Re: New SHPs?

OK, now if you're looking for single icon SHP, I fear you are, shall we say, stuck. There's the 0054, 57 and 59, which I should think you already used (I know I did), and then there's only minimal...

Re: Need suggestion on implementing the HUMRAAM

I've already started dealing with MANPADS as far as figures are concerned, but medium-range radar-guided SAMs are much more hazy in my mind (and my sources) for now.
From what I can tell, your...

Re: New SHPs?

As far as I can tell, the icon0112.shp to 120 are still unused in the default game, I checked every way I could.
Just check Game Data\Design\WINSPMBT_MasterIconList.txt, it shows which files are...

Re: USMC Self Propelled Artillery

AFAIK rocket artillery goes more or less with the actual factual loadout, and it's the rate of fire that is conventionally tweaked to suit the number of rounds. In other words, if your MRL has 40...

Re: USMC Self Propelled Artillery

Marcello and everyone, keep in mind that such units have to be designed for AI use as well. And the sure thing is that IA players can't handle ammo carriers properly.
From what I know, separate ammo...

Re: USMC Self Propelled Artillery

Well for starters, there's a thread just starting on Tanknet on this subject (http://63.99.108.76/forums/index.php?showtopic=22068), if you haven't yet I think you should start looking there.

Re: Re obat 70 Chechnya

Good point. I was more thinking about more recent weapon systems (even the early Svir-Refleks and Bastion were in limited service in the late 80s), and using them in coordinated support for forward...

Re: Fixed: New Cold War 2020 mod release! (RC 0.4)

Quick update:

Latest DL link looks dead more or less, here's a RapidShare one for now (http://rapidshare.com/files/48311116/CW2020mod_RC0.4.exe.html).

Working on RC.0.5 for now, focusing on...

Re: Russian OOB -

Thanks Marek! That's what I was talking about all along, I thought I had made it clear.

ROF value is highly determinant in indirect fire aka artillery missions, not unit-to-unit direct fire....

Re: Re obat 70 Chechnya

Makes sense that the Russian troops would use more HE rounds against a guerrilla-type opponent. Now as you said, Spike, the level of preparedness most Russian forces showed in the first Chechnya war...

Re: Russian OOB -

Moment here. As far as indirect fire is concerned, I think ROF has a direct influence on the number of rounds shot per turn on a fire mission. Since all the units mentioned above are generally...

Re: SG 540 SIG (and 542) in obat 92, 84, 82, 68 an

Here are the lbm pics based on Pats' images. Not top-quality, I fear (the SIG-510 lbm is plain worthless anyway), but I'll fish around for more pics that may be more lbm-friendly ...

Re: SG 540 SIG (and 542) in obat 92, 84, 82, 68 an

Thanks for the pics!
I'll look around see if I can find any field pics of those, presumably in Chilean service.
Regarding Swiss lbms, I already have some in store, given I'll have to take the Swiss...
