Warp weapons
I am still fairly new to SEIV. I have added the TDM-Modpak and now find myself struggling with the AI opponents!I have developed some warp weapons but am usure how to use them:
Tectonic Bomb - seems to take ages to build this component, is it worthwhile?
The warp opener weapon (can't remember the name), it says it has a range of 100 light years - how far is that on the map and how to you use it?
Any other advice about the warp weapons would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Warp weapons
The Wormhole Beam will randomly teleport the ship it hits anywhere on the combat map.
It works best to break up enemy formations, so your fleet can take on the enemies one at a time.
The tectonic bomb allows you to totally destroy a planet, leaving only uncolonizable asteroids behind.
If you use a tectonic bomb in combination with a matter gravity sphere (planet creator) you can destroy and rebuild planets until they turn up as a breathable atmosphere.
As for Warppoint openers, 100 LY is 10 squares on the galaxy map.
If you right click on the galaxy map, you should be able to turn on distance view, and it will give you the distance of every other system from your currently selected system.

Umm... no it doesn't. The only way to see the distance between systems is to build a ship with a WP opener, and then telling it to open a warp point. That screen shows the distances between systems. There are no other screens that show the distances (save using the pythagorean theorem on the galaxy map, which is a pain).

Re: Warp weapons
If the AI is really kickign your butt wouldnt' you want to be getting better combat tech? and i think the Category you're speaking of is really called Stellar Manipulation, Warp Weapons are something totally different, and forget tectonic bombs, its all about sun destroyers.

Re: Warp weapons
Thanks, Val. I haven't used WP tech in so long, I'd forgotten exactly where it was
