AI personality group effect?
I searched this forum for this topic but found no conclusive statement about it. So I wanted to ask again: does anybody know what the "personality group" in the AI settings file really does??
If I look at the different races I do not find any constant: The Pyrochette as an aggressive race have personality group 1 as do the Phong and CueCappa as peaceful races.

Re: AI personality group effect?
I am reasonably sure (about 85%) that the 'personality group' is the number that corresponds with wether that race is chosen randomly to be put in the game. The AI difficulty (ie low, medium, high, Not the resource bonus) controls to how many 'aggressive' or 'peaceful' races are in a game, and to wether the AI's will use 'fleets' etc. So at 'high' AI difficulty more 'aggressive'(Xi'Chung etc.) will be in the 'pool' of random races to enter the game.
At least this is what I have learned from playing and reading the Posts.

I can say with 100% certainty that is what it does, but I am not 100% certain how it works.

Re: AI personality group effect?
So you mean 0 would be the weakest AI and 4 the strongest?
0 is used for all neutral empires but also for the Earth Alliance and the Praetorian.

Re: AI personality group effect?
From settings.txt:
Random Player Personality Groups := 4
Random Player Personality Group 1 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 2 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 3 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 4 Percent := 10
I take this to mean that of the total # of random AIs, 30% will be from Personality Group 1, 30% will be from Personality Group 2, 30% will be from Personality Group 3, and 10% will be from Personality Group 4.
Just my very over-priced $0.02 worth.

No, I think he's saying that 0 is least aggressive and 4 most aggressive, which isn't necessarily the same thing as weakest/strongest.
BTW, the Praetorians are group 1. I don't have the EA to check.
