Default At What Point Do You Know You Have Won

At what point in a single player game do you know you have won? For me its alway around Turn 150. By that point the AI stops pressing its limited advantages, and starts becoming weak. I simply demand that they surrender, and they do.

...although I have to say it usually takes me more than 100 turns to colonise half the galaxy. I'm a very slow, cautious player.

I was just saying to someone else in a PM that it is the mechanical nature of mid-late game expansion that means I hardly ever finish a game. That and the fact that frequent patches make my savegames incompatible ...

Anyway, this is another reason I love Proportions- the game speed is slowed down so far as to make it virtually open- ended. It would be really hard to get to the point where the game was "already won".

Not so Dogscoff: In Proportions you've won when you take the second Alien Homeworld - the AI has no way back from there.

Arguably, just taking the first will do.

Proportions is still my favourite Mod, but it's starting to look like a one-strategy game. A different strategy to vanilla SEIV though, which is a good thing.

I guess... but I haven't been able to take an enemy homeworld since the very early Versions when the AI was a lot weaker. nowadays they fill up with troops, WPs and defence stations before you can get a troop transport anywhere near them.

Also, I'd be really interested to see someone try to take a Proportions homeworld from a *human* player=-)

I have played something to the order of nearly a 1000 games of SEIV now. Of all of them, I have only finished 2. I am still working on one from 1.49, and hope that some day I will finish it.

The new patch will be out in days, and that means all of my saved games, (Currently 5) will have to be either finished or trashed. I love this game so very much, but hate knowing that I am going to win at X point. I too love the P mod, in conjunction with Fyrons Q mod, and the Mount Mod (Dont remember who made that).

I love games that take a really long time to play. I hate moving out into the galaxy to find that the AI has already colonized half the galaxy, and immedately upon meeting me declares war. They have a fleet of 500 ships, all dreadnoughts, to my fledgling fleet of 30 Destroyers. A most bummer situation to be assured.

I love the game, and feel that the concentration of the modders should be toward making the game play more expansive... I enjoy making new components, facilities, and such.

I think I get more enjoyment out of making new things than I currently do from playing the game. The RPG aspect of the game, for writing purposes is also a gread deal of fun.

But overall, I make it to about turn 150 and I know I have won. I still love the game though and play the hell out of it.

What I really want in some future SE patch is the ability to call design names in Unit_construction.txt file. As it is now I think it uses only design types. The fix will allow to programm AI to build versatile homeworld defences in Proportions. At least I think I know how it would be possible to achieve.
