Component editor
Has anyone been able to get this to function in WinXP or is there a better/newer option?

Re: Component editor
Wordpad? You need to find a better text editor. Plenty of free ones out there.

You might try MetaPad. It's free and very robust.

I like Notetab Lite, another free one.

Re: Component editor
I use the component editor with XP with no trouble. Then, I switch to Notepad for the really hardcore editing.
I swear I'll finish some day.

Re: Component editor
MetaPad. Most definitely MetaPad. It can handle big files and is very handy to use. Its interface is a mix between Notepad and Wordpad, and it's simply much better than both. I never use Word anymore since I installed OpenOffice (which sometimes makes my pc hang up and which I never use to edit .txt files). I don't even think if Word can open .txt files?
