Play By Committee has begun its 5th year to a bright Katchooary morning.

Come by to check on your planets, ships and ministries if you have them!

New players are always welcome; we can always use more military captains, planetary governors, and there is a minister position or two open in the government.
Experience with SE4 is not required. Simply run your own little piece of the empire and share in the glory.

There are plenty of people around to help with any difficulties or questions you may have.

This is going to be a silly question, but... Where could one learn more about what is Play by Commitee? I have heard this name before, and with your summary, I can guess what it is, but I have to admit it is basically all I know about this game.

one empire, many people. about a turn a week, though participation has been slowing down lately. we had some politics and assassination attempts a while back, and i managed to steal some ships once - without being noticed.

but we need some fresh blood to get it going again! come join the game, and we can get some more action started.

I have a game of SE4 running on my PC, using a slight mod which adds some roleplaying components and stuff.
Mostly troop-based avatars for all the players, basically a location marker, but military officers can also go down with the troops and actually fight aliens on planets.

The forum is where all the politicking goes on, and is where I post the savegames.
The savegames aren't completely nessesary, but do help a lot in knowing what's going on.
Players can post their orders in a special forum thread, which I use to generate the next turn.

For a preview of the system, log into the forums as:
"Spectator" using a password of "Spectator"

It sounds really interesting, I will have a closer look at the forum when I am back.

What positions are open at the moment? You mentioned ministers, but what kind of ministry? And what are the functions of a planet governor? Thanks in advance.

A planetary governor gets full control over their planet, limited only by funding from the finance minister and overridden only by a 2/3rds senate majority vote.
The construction minister has the authority to hand down build quotas, but they are limited to a percentage of your total build rate depending on the scope of the quota. (See senate archives for details) This has been used maybe once or twice, since most planetary governors are happy to have something to build, and there is plenty of production capacity in the republic.

There are currently openings for:
- Colonization Minister (Anything which involves Colony ships, you have a big say in)
- Science Minister (Determines the path of research, plus is often called on for Scientific reports for RP purposes)
