Random Opponents now available
OK check out the top news item at my site www.dom2minions.com.
There is now a very small downloadable exe which will generate a scenario called "Random Opponents". Clicking the exe again will give you a newly randomized set of opponents to play against.
I can do a linux Version if there is interest.

Nice! Oh, and Happy Birthday - but remember the rule: It's okay to grow older, but no to grow up.

A linux Version would definitely have my interest (and gratitude)!!
Anyway, it looks like a much needed utility.
Also, happy birthday if its indeed your birthday!
(incidently mine is tomorrow )
Cheers,
Thomas

Re: Random Opponents now available
Beautiful idea; pity it is so limited (random map, number of random opponents, and a set level of difficulty would be great). Still, a nice effort, and wonderful that you have it as an executable now.

Random map? Hmm I guess I could randomly select one from the maps in the maps directory. Or did you mean more like THESE?
Random number of opponents is in there, or did you want a greater range? More? fewer?
Set level of difficulty wouldnt really be all that set since the alliances make a big difference. Ermor falling next to Marignon changes the game difficulty. But its a very different game if they are allied and refuse to attack each other. Now if I added a random to the independents settings then THAT makes a huge difference in how an AI plays. I could always include randoms on settings like magic level, sites, resources, random events. Nahh, sounds like too much. I like random but I dont think that much would go over.
Now if you want to try some real changes to game play, try the "Poke in the Eye" scenario on the eye.map from HERE. I think that might be my next EXE.

Re: Random Opponents now available
Nifty add-on
What I'd like though is to be able to
- choose a map ! It shouldn't be that hard, from what I've seen the proggie add lines to the standard Aran.map, it could do so to any other no ?
- And choose the number of opponents I want from 1-16 ...
With "just" that I suppose I'd be using it for every of my solo games
