Default Project for long winter evenings...

Finally found a nice sweet spot of Czechoslovakian border line fortifications where it is possible to capture the entire line on map...
It's the Bratislava-Petrzialka bridgehead, the only fully completed portion of fortified line. More details here:
Tank-Net post

Going to create the map. That would take a long time as it would be 200x160 map but the result would be interesting I believe. River, three bridges to cross and all that...

But at first I'd have to choose some easier portion of the fortified line (and smaller) where would I be able to try out correct in-game placement of both heavy and light pillboxes.

So... No deadline for now. Just to let you know of the idea.

Look forward to bashing up against/defending from, these defences. Sounds interesting.

Prosit!

Progress report:
Danube river - all the way across the map, done
Bratislava - downtown almost done, now closing in for the Castle hill.
You can see it on the attached image - red line marks level of Lev. 1 hill, orange line is Level 2 and bright blue is Level 3. Moving from Panonia lowlands to Carpathia
For this map, one height level = 10 meters.

EDIT: Err, forgot to attach the image

To the left (ie Southern - had to rotate the map to fit to 200x160 window) bank of river, ie there where there is nothing yet Have chosen to start with the city at first, as it's the hardest part, what with all the streets and houses.

In final state the map will have three variants:

1938 - only one bridge, old railroad pattern (based on German maps)
1970's/80's - what you see, three bridges, tramway network
2000's - two more bridges, highway

Update: Finished entire Northern bank of Danube river, complete with Old Town heights (reached to level 14). Now beginning to work on the other bank, ie on Petrzalka bridgehead itself.

Just to let you know I don't sleep (yet)...

Today finished everything below the railroad to Hungary. Plus some fields (off screen to the left = South). Plus, for orientation purposes, used beach sand to draw the current border line.

On this screenshot, you may see positions of several bunkers - squares are heavy objects (though some of them are "old" - built in 1935 before the forts were typised, on initiative of commander of forces in Slovakia - the "old" objects were armed just with machineguns, some were really bristling with them, but in 1937 they were reworked to better fit into typised patterns, meaning usually limiting armament and filling up some loopholes with concrete to increase protection) and white circle is one of three vz.37A type light objects (exception to the rule, while standard weapon of vz.37 objects was vz.26 LMG, in Petrzalka bridgehead all three objects built had two HMG's).

AARGH! Forgot to add a link to pic!

Yay! Finished Slovakian part, going to Austria! So now just two towns, one high hill and lots of fields remaining
Yellow line is border, screenshot covers left (ie south) part of the map.

Yay! It's done! Atleast in its first incarnation. Uploaded it on MBT forums as its timeframe suits it more than WW2, here's the link:
