Feature Wanted: Advanced Scorched Earth
I've been reading my own post about radioation bombs and i thought it would be nice if the scorched earth tactic could be employed to full power in SEIV - meaning you could use planetary napalms and radiation bombs to damage _UNCOLONIZED_ planets of your choice. Though i doubt it could ever make it to SEIV so i guess that'll be for SEV

...planetary napalms would damage value reducing it by, say, 40%. Plus pre-set plagues could be nasty.

Re: Feature Wanted: Advanced Scorched Earth
Well, you already have the option of blowing a planet to bits, creating a not directly mineable asteroid field ...
As for realism: How do you explain that your tiny bomb has just reduced the minability of a planetoid, that mainly consists of material ... ?

Re: Feature Wanted: Advanced Scorched Earth
I can destroy planets... in the late game at cost of extremly high resources.
Realism? Do you realise *what* destructive power do planetary (plasma) napalms hold if they get to as much as 600 damage at lvl 5, much higher than any weapon you can think of? ANd as a fact whenever one is wiped of a planet its value decreases so the weapons actually do affect the value.
For the uses, one smart enough can design early ships and devastate colonies around his enemy and win the game. This brings in counter-tactics etc.

Re: Feature Wanted: Advanced Scorched Earth
lowering the mineral or radioactive value of a planet would require lowering its mass. its not enough to glass the surface, and pound it to mush. you have to physically REMOVE MASS. Sure, you should be able to pre-infest planets with plagues, or drop their conditions to deadly. Maybe even reduce their organics value, if that was codeable. but reducing the raw ammount of minerals that can be mined? how? its a planet. its made of minerals. its made of radioactives too, just less of them, and closer to the core.
which reminds me, did anyone read the hypothesis about the center of the earth being a large, naturally occuring, breeder-reactor (due to dense radioactives settling at the center of gravity)? It went a long way towards explaining lots of previously inexplicable phenominon with the planets magnetic field.

No, but I would like to. Where can I find it?
