modding - editing those big .bmp files
Any tips/tricks/hints/advice for editing these files:
Components.bmp
Planets.BMP
Facility.bmp
Do I have to manually line up each component, or is there a better way?
Thanks,
-spoon

Do you mean the number of the Portrait? If so, yes.
Get the Image Mod. It has some markers down the side that tell you what number each line ends with.

I think that's what I mean. Like if I want to change armor to be green, I have to change comp_028.bmp and the small picture of armor in components.bmp. It's the latter that I'm asking about...

Re: modding - editing those big .bmp files
The portrait is used when viewing the description of something, and the mini is used when viewing the facilities on a planet, planets on the map, or the comps on a ship design. They need to match up. The best way to do it is to simply shrink the Portrait down.

Right, the trouble I'm having is with pasting the new shrunken portrait over the old one. Seems like I'm always off by a pixel or two...

Re: modding - editing those big .bmp files
Don't replace default images. Scroll down to the empty rows filled with gridlines and add new stuff there. You can increase the height of the file and use more and more spaces.
