Yeah, I checked components.txt and none of the "big" guns can tatget troops, so the WPs are left hanging.

They die absurdly easily, actually.

EDIT: they won't fire even if given PDCs, which can target fighters. Odd.

I think it's because the PDCs lack ground damage values. I can test this later.

I noticed that when I asked the AI to complete my weapon platform design in version 0.90, it illegally placed "small" weapons on the weapon platforms (the ones used on fighters and troops), which of course CAN target troops. So I assume it can be modded to do it legally too, though I haven't tested it.

I'm fairly certain it can. In fact, if PDCs and their kin can be given ground damage, the WPs should be able to fire at fighters/troops which is I think is ok. I'd hesitate to allow them to bring their "ship" weapons online for ground combat though.

Overkill much? The big guns not working makes sense, really- I was just surprised even the PDCs didn't work.
