I am also OK with a long extension - whatever makes the game go smoother :-)

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]
Guys is province 89 adjecent to province 83? I have an argument with a guy and I need to see who is right. (there is no connection between these two). And by definition from the game a caslte(in that case capital) will take all the resources from adjecent provinces).

What is the argument? On page 42/43 in the rule book it clearly shows a province with a castle NOT getting resources from 2 provinces it is next to, but separated by a mountain range and thus not connected.
You know there was most likely a good reason they supplied a rule book with the game....... to explain the bloody rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote:
How did Giant’s Rest get so many resources? Because the province now has a fortress, it
can utilize its full production capacity, so instead of 67 it now has a base of 134. When you
add the resources from the four adjacent provinces, you get 134, plus 10% of all the
following: 42 (4), 48 (4), 26 (2), and 30 (3). Those are the “actual” resource totals in Trisia,
Rhetha, Ostmark, and Obalshin, respectively.

the argument is: is 89 adjecent to 83.
P.s I am not talking about the rules I know the rules I am proving a point.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]
Are they adjacent?.....by the strict defination of english I guess they are, as their borders "touch", but their borders are that of an impassable terrain and thus there can be NO movement directly between them nor are any resources able to be exchanged between them should one of them contain a castle.
Still failing to see the issue here.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]
OK so it is a question of definition. Do you preceive them as adjecent. Problem is Abyssia, and I had a Nap-3. Clause in the nap-3 all adjecent provinces to his capital are his. All adjecent provinces to my capital are mine. He did not mention 89 as a part of the provinces that are adjecent and thus I conquered it.(being owned by indipendents beforehand.) Now he blames me that I broke the nap clause. So I was wondering how is it preceived.( since most people know that there are quirks on the map and usually people preceive adjecent provinces, as provinces to which you have movement). So I was trying to clear that up for him, but he doesn't seem to want to listen.
Even Wiki defines Adjecent province as one at which you have movement and you can attack. (or heck type in google Dominions 3 adjecent province and see what comes up)
And regarding the meaning of adjecency I was asking in terms of a gameplay, or the way you understand it in this game. Since an agreement is in the bounds of the game, so all the parts of the agreements should be in the bounds of the game.

Re: Newbie/Intermediate FF game: A Totally Civil Union [send pretenders]
Well Jolly Roger comes highly recommended from another party whom I trust implacably.........
Its certainly his right (why, because its a free world)to claim by his definiton that the two 2 provinces adjoin each other and thus you broke a NAP by taking it.
However I think if you polled 99 other DOM 3 players there is no way using common sense you could claim that province as being next to your capital, as the reason we don't want people "adjacent" to our capital is that they can close it down in a single move.
You can't close close his capital down in a single move in the circumstances described as the intervening terrain prevents this.
Jolly, I think you had better look up the definition of "common sense" in the dictionary, other wise you are going to find yourself in a LOT of unnecessary conflicts playing Dom 3.
You are new here I believe....hey, we all make mistakes.
By the way the way, I note all NAP breakers, and bbz is certainly not getting his name into my black book over this incident.

Gentlemen,
assume bbz and me came to a mutual agreement on the subject of this issue meanwhile.
You are right, actually it´s a question of definitions.
Finally I´d like to point out, I´ve never intended to put bbz to public prosecution.
Regards, Klaus
