Design is a purposeful process, Evolution is a random process. Tell me, who out there random creates a race. Tries for a while, then randomly modifies it and tries it some more. Seems like a poor way to 'design' a race.

I always thought 4X games were fought out between Greek style gods who design and developed their little minions to fight the other gods. (Doesn't my metaphor really fit the game better?)
