Small Shield Depleters = Uber Troop Weapon

As I understand it, the problem originally was shield depleters used against units would do normal damage. And under those circumstances Ed would be right, the small shield depleters would rock as troop weapons. But I believe that with 1.84 that was fixed so shield depleters fired against units only deplete the shields instead of doing normal damage.

Although I could be incorrect. Ed, have you tested this to see if it still does what you are saying?
