It always hits, hits every unit in the square, and casts soul slay on at least one of the units, possibly all of them.

And what kind of success rate can you get with Apostacy?

Magic resistance negates, so it depends totally on the MR of the target. The only other way that I know of for BE Ermor to get an unholy 4 priest is the sword of injustice.
