No, the troopship definitely went for the colony - I checked it twice. The planet did lack the colony indicator on it, though, since it was wiped out... heck, I've seen Devnull monsters attack a planet, hide in the corner, and destroy the planet, and the combat replay shows both the asteroids and the planet
