is the following possible ?
Can new event types be added to the game ?
What I had in mind was adding an event that worked off of ruins.Being a big Bab 5 fan , I thought it would be really cool if,an event could be triggered by the finding of ancient ruins.
The event would add a new race to an ongoing game- like the shadows.Til the ruins were found -this race would not be active.
The "shadows" would immediatly gain control of the planet the ruins were found on and begin to build. The Shadows would be fully cloaked or hidden in someway.Any ship visiting the planet would be lost with a message saying "Contact with "name here" was lost today. The ship and all hands are feared lost.A space storm or other odd happening is suspected." Or some similair ambiguous message.
This new race would not be enemy number one when discovered by an npc race, but would automatcally generate negative points to the happiness of other races towards them at a given rate. The new race would possess all techs based on combat, intel and pyshic.BUT could only gain new planets by intel opps -no colonizing.
The new race would have large stock piles of resources on the planet, but be unable to generate any new resourses without taking over planets or by trade. It would of course be able to trade high techs for resources, which it would seek to do.
The new race doesnt have to be the "shadows".
The idea is for a major threat to all empires to secretly enter the game and start stalking.
The Borg would work also.
So to sum up.
Is it possible to add new event types to the game ?
Is it possible for an event to be tied to a specific in game happening ? ie finding a set of ruins automactically triggers event ?
Is it possible for an event type to add a new race into a running game ?
Is it possible for the AI to pull off such a sly and non-visible tactical approach ?
