Those Orks of yours got some pretty nifty moves! I've known this was a possible manuveur for some time now, but I didn't think the AI could manage it!
A lone Ork ship entered a system I was just recolonizing. The Orks had recently slagged my fledgling colonies. I had a fleet in the system so it was time for payback. After the simul turn ran, I noticed there was no combat replay available and the map showed an enemy still in the system. I ran the movement log and saw my fleet catch the s. o. b. and he immediately moved away. Since I am first player, I can move onto his ship and he can then move away on the same day. Soon he got to the warp point and then BACKTRACKED! I still couldn't catch him of course!
Next turn, he plays games with me by flipping back and forth between two adjacent sectors and I still can't catch him! I don't know how I could have been more PO'd while LMAO.
Finally I brought in another fleet, he changed his tactics and I caught him when (I assume) he ran out of gas.
What I want to know is how did you guys manage to get the AI to do that without messing with the code?
