update.

still no joy...windows 11 and Mac M1. I installed the ARM windows 11 and it runs nicely in Parallels. however trying to run WinSPMBT, in any mode, (windowed/full screen.....intro/no intro....Direct X/GDI) gives the same distorted graphics.

I will continue to mess around with it.
