Default Re: BORG question for Modders

Sorry if this sounds line an inane question, but why make them able to breathe all atmpospheres? Ok... they adapt. But isn't a lot of their adaptation based on assimilating other races? Want to breathe oxygen? Capture a bunch of oxy breathing population from someone elses race by capturing their planet. You can then use their race members (species #2837!) to colonize other oxygen worlds.

It seems to me that that would be more borg-like than fitting them all with gills and personal methane converters...

My question is, why would the Borg colonize at all? Don't they spread by asimilation?

Give them a big ground combat bonus. I also like the idea of the combination ship capture shield depleter. That sounds very Borgy. (Is that a word? hehehe)Although it's probably easier to leave them separate.

They should have acess to ship capture earlier than other races though. Probably as a starting tech.

The rapid amotsphere converter is a good idea. I think the Borg truly are a race that can funtion in any atmosphere, but I am guessing that would require a code change. The converter would effect the same thing but be doable from a mod perspective.

All of these would give the Borg an immense advantage, so to balance it some, do not allow them to colonize any planets. My idea would be to only allow them to gain planets by assimilation of exsisting colonies or colony ships of other races.

Did I come across as too techie? Sorry Nyx. lol

I think the whole star trek races in SEIV thing is a great idea. I looked at the Borg speech file someone posted in the mod section and I thought it was great! I can't want to run up against a Borg in game and recieve a message "Resistance is futile, You will be assimilated."

If you think I was too logical here, you should check my post in the "New Quadrant "AI Zone" " thread. It'll blow your mind.

No not too techy, just accurate. I was being silly. They do assimilate more than colonize, though it is never said that they don't colonize at all. At least one Voyager episode had them with a gargantuan deep-space space station they clearly built themselves (or expanded until it had less than 1% original material, which is nearly the same thing for SE4 concerns).
